A curious mixture of local charm and urban hubbub pervades the historic neighborhoods of Beargrass Creek — a collection of workplaces, residences and local businesses with both a fascinating past and a bright future. A thriving sustainable place — a place that celebrates the importance of design, art, craft, agriculture and education within the cultural heritage of our home, Louisville, Kentucky. The Beargrass Conservancy believes arts education sustains a rich and vibrant culture that nourishes our community and builds innovative thinkers who will become our next generation of leaders in government, business and non-profits. For today’s youth to be the innovators and economic leaders of the future, they will need to have experiences as musicians and dancers, painters and sculptors, poets and playwrights—in short, they will need to be creative thinkers who will build and sustain our future.

Through our efforts, the neighborhoods surrounding Beargrass Creek, will once again cultivate a true sense of place that is timeless, authentic and welcoming for generations to come. Our plan is designed to connect people from all walks of life, to create a truly vibrant community. We welcome and seek partnerships from our neighbors with one goal in mind, to restore everyday life to the neighborhoods of Beargrass Creek! A life that is woven into the historic fabric of these neighborhoods, while at the same time improving the built infrastructure in a sensible, sustainable manner. A place where everyday life celebrates our heritage, our environment and our neighbors.
